
uLocate > Getting Started with uLocate
There are 4 steps to getting up and running with !uLocate:
Step 1: Confirm that you meet the cell phone / carrier requirement.
Step 2: Download and setup the uLocate application on your cell phone.

► Step 3: Test that your data plan has been activated.
Step 4: Open an account with uLocate.
► STEP 3: TEST THAT YOUR DATA PLAN HAS BEEN ACTIVATED
The service plan you have with your carrier needs to have the ability to transfer data across the carrier network. You can test to see if this in place by attempting to have your phne "talk" to our server.
To test for the presence of a properly activated data plan:
- Turn the phone on and start the application. To start uLocate, if it is not already running:
- press the menu button.Scroll to and highlight Java Apps and press SELECT
- Scroll to and highlight !uLocate and press RUN.
The app will now attempt to get a GPS fix (a GPS fix is the latitude and longitude that establish a location).
- To determine if you can "talk" to our server, press the "Locate" softkey (lower left key under display). You will receive one of the following three messages:

Proceed to Step 4: Open a uLocate account
NOTE: You can suspend the application to make or receive calls by pressing the red end call button twice. The screen will return to the Nextel default display. NOTE: the application is still running. To return to the application, press the Menu button, scroll to and highlight Java Apps, press SELECT. The screen will display
!uLocate suspended, press RESUME.
