uLocate > Getting Started with uLocate

There are 4 steps to getting up and running with !uLocate & cell phones:
► Step 1: Confirm that you meet the cell phone / carrier requirement.
Step 2: Download and setup the uLocate application on your cell phone.

Step 3: Test that your data plan has been activated.
Step 4: Open an account with uLocate.
► STEP 1: CONFIRM REQUIREMENTS
Successful use of uLocate requires:
- a Motorola i830, i730, i710, i88s, or i58sr phone
(these phones are GPS enabled and support Java J2ME applications).
And a
- Nextel service plan that includes Total Connect 1MB.
(To setup the Total Connect Data Plan please contact your Nextel representative. There are a variety of Total Connect Plans available (click here for Nextel Total Connect information).
We recommend a Total Connect 1 MB Plan with a private IP (current price is $9.95 per month from Nextel). Nextel can generally provision these plans within 24-48 hours.
OR
- Southern LINC that includes a Java Access Plan
(To order a Java Access plan, contact Customer Support at 1-800-406-0151, dial 611 on your Southern LINCŪ phone, or contact a local Southern LINCŪ Wireless Data Sales Representative)
Please review our GPS cell phone tip sheet, then:
Proceed to Step 2: Download and setup uLocate
> for the i58sr and i88s
> for the i830, i730, and i710
