TEEN ARRIVE ALIVE
OFFERS PARENTS A ROUND-THE-CLOCK TEEN DRIVER TRACKING SYSTEM THROUGH AGREEMENT
WITH ULOCATE
--TAA GPS Program With uLocate Technology Alerts Parents to
Unsafe Teen Driving –
Bradenton,
FL – June 7, 2004 – Teen Arrive Alive (TAA), a company dedicated to saving
lives by encouraging safe driving habits among teens, today announced a
partnership with uLocate, the leading
developer of wireless location based communication services, to offer parents
the TAA GPS program. The new program –
offered as a component of TAA’s overall teen safe driving offerings – uses
global positioning systems (GPS) technology and location based services from
uLocate to allow parents to locate their child anytime, anywhere.
Subscribers to the TAA GPS program use a Motorola i730 cell
phone, loaded with uLocate’s location based software and Nextel service that
gives parents continuous updates on the whereabouts of their child. When the phone is on and not being used for
conversation, uLocate’s technology sends regular signals to the cell tower that
identify the phone’s location. With a
secure PIN and any phone or the Internet, parents can hear or view the current
location of their children 24/7 with details including the street, street
number, city and state of their location.
uLocate’s technology also provides parents with reports on
their child’s location history and their driving speed. The system measures the distance and time
between the last point where the phone reported and the current location and
uses this information to calculate the average driving speed.
“The bottom line in keeping our kids safe and reducing teen
driving fatalities is for parents to know more about the driving behavior of
their teen drivers,” said TAA founder, Rob Berry. “As an organization, we’re dedicated to
providing parents with the support they need to recognize, address and modify
teen driving behavior. This partnership
with uLocate enables us to offer parents a valuable tool that can further ensure
the safety of their children.”
In the future, through uLocate’s advanced technology parents
will be able to create specific geographic parameters for their teens. The system will notify parents when the set
parameters are met or exceeded. TAA will
offer this service as part of its TAA GPSPlus
Program.
“This is the type of application our location-based
technology is perfectly suited for,” said
