The uLocate Platform
uLocate is the industry's leading mobile gateway for location across handset-based GPS systems, network-based triangulation and cell-tower location, and non-carrier location including IP-based, Wi-Fi, and component GPS devices.
Mobile Application Platform (MAP)
uLocate's Mobile Application Platform (MAP) provides a handset-based development environment and runtime that is designed to quickly port applications across multiple hardware models, operating systems, and carrier networks. The Mobile Application Platform (MAP) abstracts proprietary handset APIs such as those for location and camera imaging. It also provides a template-based system, utilizing the uWML tagging language, for quickly constructing pages within the mobile application without knowledge of J2ME or BREW programming. This system facilitates deployment across the large number of handset/carrier combinations in the addressable market, while maintaining the flexibility to modify the application over time without redistribution of the binary.
uLocate Location Server
The uLocate Location Server consists of platform components and web services optimized for managing mobile location. In addition to providing uniform interfaces for cross-carrier location, the uLocate Location Server includes a set of modules designed to accelerate the deployment of advanced location features, including:
- Standardized mobile API for location: The uLocate API provides a standardized interface for mobile location across all carriers. This API abstracts the complexity of carrier location such as carrier location accuracy (cell tower, aGPS MS-Base/MS-Assist, aGPS, control plane, triangulation, and U-TDOA) and location permissions (privacy policy acceptance and visibility levels with individuals and groups).
- Mapping: Intuitive maps for displaying location accuracy variations, mobile driving directions, geocoding, and reverse geocoding.
- Local Search: Incorporation of third-party content coupled with advanced search matching algorithms.
- Historical location management: Secure management of location history and visual display (bread-crumbing).
- Visibility: Access controls and policies to manage privacy compliance, shared location, and visibility.
- Geo-fencing and personal locations: Management of user preferences for named geographical points and shapes such as the radius around a given point (geo-fence).
- Proximity alerts: User-defined alerts for location actions such as crossing a geo-fence or coming into proximity of another individual.
- Multi-media gateway: Interface for sending and receiving location-related content via SMS, MMS, email, browser alerts, and IM.
